EU4GREEN PHOTO CONTEST: “THE GREENEST EXAMPLES OF THE WESTERN BALKANS”
The EU4Green project is pleased to announce the launch of its regional Photo Contest under the theme: “The Greenest Examples of the Western Balkans.”
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, EU4Green invites amateur photographers across the region to document and showcase the region’s most inspiring stories about nature and environment, best practices leading to green transformation, communicate about issues related to the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, boost awareness about (de)pollution, about innovations and sustainability, convey about environmental progress or highlight problems caused by human activity.
Contest Themes
Participants are invited to submit a series of 4–6 photographs addressing one of the following thematic areas:
- Circular Economy: Depicting practices that reduce waste, encourage reuse, and promote sustainable consumption and production.
- Sustainable Agriculture: Highlighting agricultural practices that balance productivity with environmental stewardship.
- Depollution: Illustrating pollution challenges and/or initiatives aimed at restoring air, water, and soil quality.
- Green Finance: Capturing efforts in responsible investment and financing for sustainable development.
- Green Education: Promoting educational initiatives that foster environmental awareness and action.
- Biodiversity: Showcasing the protection of natural habitats, species, and ecosystems and fostering ecological richness and resilience.
Artistic Approach
Submissions should demonstrate a clear narrative and environmental message while embracing a strong artistic vision. Participants are encouraged to creatively translate technical or abstract sustainability topics into powerful visual stories. Please Note:
- Participants must be 18 years old or older.
- Only non-professional photographers may participate.
- Only photo series (4–6 images) are eligible.
- Single images, generic landscapes, or AI-generated content will not be considered.
Submission Details
- Submission format: High-resolution photographs (minimum 300 dpi) accompanied by a description detailing the story, location, and date.
- Submission via email: contact@eu4green.eu
- You may use file transfer services such as WeTransfer or Swiss Transfer or send the files as an attachment — just make sure to include the download link in your email.
- Deadline for submissions: August 15, 2025
Awards and Recognition
Prizes will be awarded to the top entries, including:
- A regional eco-tourism experience (destination to be determined).
- Award ceremony – the rewarded participants will be invited to a special awarding event and the official opening of the photo exhibition.
- Western Balkans exhibition – the winning photographs will be featured in a traveling exhibition across the Western Balkans.
- Official recognition and promotion through EU4Green’s social media, website, press releases, and partner networks.
