THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA GAVE CONSENT TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE FREE ZONE BROD
On July 2, 2026, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Decision on the Establishment of the Free Zone Brod. This is one of the most important development projects for the municipality of Brod, the aim of which is to create a more favorable economic environment, attract new investments and create new jobs.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Brod, Milan Zečević, emphasized that the decision is the result of long-term and dedicated work. “The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, adopted the Decision on the Establishment of our customs-free zone. This is the result of a major undertaking that lasted more than a year and involved thousands of working hours,” he said, adding: “Now Brod is gaining new prerequisites for further development, because with this project we have provided all future generations of Brod residents with a great asset and a great advantage over other local communities.” Zečević thanked Minister Staša Košarac for “providing the support of the Council of Ministers, as well as all the necessary permits, in record time.”
Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers of BiH Staša Košarac emphasized that the relevant ministry provided full support to the initiative of the Municipality of Brod. “I am especially proud of the Mayor of Brod Milan Zečević and his team, because they worked diligently and in an extremely short time fulfilled all the formal requirements and sent us a request to establish a free zone in Brod,” he said and added: “We have fully supported this local initiative, as well as the policies of the institutions of Republika Srpska, thanks to which Brod is developing economically and becoming an extremely attractive place for investments.”
The future Brod Free Zone will cover 84.04 hectares and will operate in three territorially separate locations. Its establishment creates conditions for attracting domestic and foreign investors, strengthening the competitiveness of the local economy and long-term economic development of the municipality of Brod.
