Call for Startup Program for Women

As part of the project “Towards Equality: Women and Citizens in Action for More Inclusive Societies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Eastern Europe,” the association “Women for Women International” invites all women who want to start their own business and improve their entrepreneurial skills to apply for the startup program “Strong Woman, Strong Business.”

This program aims to enhance and promote women’s entrepreneurship by providing them with the opportunity to educate themselves, receive expert and mentoring support, as well as financial support for the development of their business.

“We believe that society is strong when women are strong and empowered – economically independent,” says the association.

What does the program offer?

A unique space in Sarajevo – the “Sist’Her” Women’s Center, where participants can gather, exchange knowledge, and network with other female entrepreneurs and experts from various fields;
A three-month educational program (5 one-day training sessions and two boot camps);
Individual mentoring from trainers to further enhance business ideas;
For the best-rated business ideas – non-refundable financial support of up to 6,000 KM;
For the best-rated business ideas – mentoring support from experts in the field related to the business idea.

Who is it for?

Unemployed women who have a business idea and want to start their own business in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
Women’s associations that want to establish a social enterprise;
Employed women who want to start their own business as an additional activity or a limited liability company.
The training will take place at the “Sist’Her” Women’s Center in Sarajevo according to the agreed schedule. Travel and accommodation expenses for participants from other cities are not covered.

How to apply?

Applications are to be submitted exclusively online via this form.
The application deadline is December 27, 2024.

Application Selection

Applicants whose applications make it to the final round will be invited for selection interviews (via Zoom). The main selection criteria will be the level of leadership skills, the participant’s profile, the description of the business idea (social impact and environmental impact), motivation for participating in the program, economic sustainability, innovation of the idea, and the program’s ability to meet the participant’s expectations.

The members of the Brod Municipal Assembly have adopted the Decision on Determining the Compensation for the Development Costs of Urban Building Land and the Decision on the Arrangement of Space and Building Land

At the 33rd regular session, the Municipal Assembly adopted the Decision on Determining the Compensation for the Development Costs of Urban Building Land (“Official Gazette of the Municipality of Brod,” No. 12/23, page 104), which includes additional reliefs for investors. According to point X, it is foreseen that for the construction of business, industrial, and mixed-use industrial-business buildings, the amount of compensation for the development of urban building land, calculated in accordance with the decision, will be reduced as follows:

  • 5% for buildings with a usable area of 1,000 – 1,500 m²
  • 10% for buildings with a usable area of 1,500 – 2,000 m²
  • 15% for buildings with a usable area of 2,000 – 3,000 m²
  • 20% for buildings with a usable area of 3,000 – 5,000 m²
  • 30% for buildings with a usable area of 5,000 – 8,000 m²
  • 40% for buildings with a usable area over 8,000 m²

At the same session, the Brod Municipal Assembly adopted the Decision on the Arrangement of Space and Building Land (“Official Gazette of the Municipality of Brod,” No. 12/23, page 91), where point XXXIII (3) stipulates that for the construction of business, industrial, and mixed-use industrial-business buildings, the amount of rent compensation, calculated in accordance with the decision, will be reduced as follows:

  • 5% for buildings with a usable area of 1,000 – 1,500 m²
  • 10% for buildings with a usable area of 1,500 – 2,000 m²
  • 15% for buildings with a usable area of 2,000 – 3,000 m²
  • 20% for buildings with a usable area of 3,000 – 5,000 m²
  • 30% for buildings with a usable area of 5,000 – 8,000 m²
  • 40% for buildings with a usable area over 8,000 m²

TALKS WITH ENTREPRENEURS – CATERERS

In the Business Club, on Friday, February 8, entrepreneurs – caterers discussed with Mayor Ilija Jovicic. From 2 pm they discussed topics of interest for this business activity. Questions raised about planned employment incentives, utility issues and others and all of them were recorded and forwarded to competent departments of the Municipal Administration. The Business Club is open every Friday from 2 pm.

THE TERM OF THE PUBLIC HEARING

The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 6 pm in the Hall of the Municipal Assembly of the Municipality of Brod (Post Office).

STUDY TRIP TO GERMANY “MACHINERY AND TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT IN METALLURGICAL INDUSTRY”

The Municipality of Brod received a call which is submitted to the companies’ representatives:

The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy is warmly inviting you to participate in the program “Bayern – Fit for Partnership” on the topic “Machinery and Technical Equipment in the Metallurgical Industry for Companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia” for a period of five days.

The aim of this trip is to establish business contacts, exchange of knowledge and experience of business subjects, educate participants, and deepen business cooperation between the Bavarian, Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Serbian companies and institutions. During the stay, visits to Bavarian companies and relevant institutions are provided, as well as participation at home fairs and cooperative exchanges.

The trip will be organized in the period from 18th to 23rd March 2019. Costs of participation for the planned study trip are EUR 20 per person/night (ie a total of EUR 100). According to the program, the following services are covered: organization and study trip, transport by bus during the entire stay in Germany, accommodation, food and drink, insurance, program monitoring by the organizers from Bavaria during the trip, translation services and final certificate for the participants, issued by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. Travel costs (airline tickets or own transport) to Munich and back are paid by participants themselves.

The target group of this trip are leaders, ie decision-makers and experts of BiH and Serbian companies and institutions in the given field. The deadline for the application is February 15, 2019, which is to be sent to e-mail sanjin.purgic@ahk.ba. The number of subsidized participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia is limited, and the final selection of participants and the realization of trip are under the ingerence and sponsorship of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy represented by the service company “Bayern International GmbH”.

Important notes:

  • Bayern International GmbH, in cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of EconomicAffairs, Regional Development and Energy, defines: the final selection of participants, the choice of subsidized participants as well as the selection of participants who will pay the full amount of study trip costs in the amount of EUR 700 per person.
  • If there are two registered persons from the same company or organization, one participant will be subsidized, while the other participant is obliged to pay the full amount of study trip expenses.
